Photoaging is caused by the sun’s rays, which—when we expose our skin repeatedly and/or over long periods of time—alter the skin’s normal structure and thus accelerate the aging process. This damage occurs both at the skin’s surface (weakening of the upper layers of the epidermis) and deep down (deterioration of collagen and elastin).
