Skin barrier
The term skin barrier refers to the corneal layer – the upper layer of the epidermis – as well as the hydrolipidic film that covers it. When this hydrolipidic film is affected by a lack of water or lipids, for example, the skin no longer acts as a physical barrier. It thus becomes more permeable to allergens.
