Atopic eczema

Atopic eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, is characterized by constitutional dryness of the skin and inflammation that is accompanied by pruritus during severe episodes. Present in those with a genetic predisposition to the condition, it is an allergic form of dermatitis that affects 20% of children in industrialized countries.
