Sensitive skin can also be beautiful

Often associated with unsightly skin symptoms (dehydration, dryness, redness, small spots), sensitive skin can be beautiful, as long as skincare remains a priority.

Does moisturizing your skin make it shine?

Hydration is essential, whatever your skin type

No—hydration, i.e. the supply of water, is essential to health and thus to the beauty of all skins, regardless of their type. However, not all skins have the same hydration needs. Dry skin not only has to be hydrated, it also needs to be nourished by using skincare products rich in fatty substances. As for combination, oily, and acne-prone skins, these require light emulsion or gel textures. Correct skin hydration even limits sebum secretion in these skin types. This is because dehydrated skin is more fragile, and its protective barrier function is impaired. When faced with aggression, combination, oily, and acne-prone skin produces more sebum to protect itself, and as a result becomes shinier.

Are sensitive skin and make-up incompatible?

Make-up is not prohibited, provided you choose the right products

Sensitive skin reacts badly to factors usually well tolerated. Particularly to factors that can trigger skin reactions, such as alcohol, synthetic fragrances, chemical dyes, etc. Make-up is not prohibited however, provided you use products that are kind to sensitive skin. They must perform a hydrating and protective action and have a hypoallergenic, non-greasy, and non-comedogenic formula. Regarding the texture, it can be very fluid in the summer, and more compact and high-coverage in the winter. Finally, it is essential that you remove your make-up everyday using a product formulated for sensitive skin, such as a milk or micellar water.

Is the BB cream concept well suited to sensitive skin?

BB cream, a concept perfectly suited to the needs of sensitive skin

We could even go so far as to say that this concept is particularly suited to sensitive skin. Invented by German dermatologist Dr. Christine Schrammek, BB cream—or Blemish Balm cream—was originally used for its healing, soothing, protective, and corrective properties after aesthetic medical procedures such as peel or laser treatment. Combining the action of a skincare product with that of a make-up product, BB cream was always destined to be adopted by the most sensitive skin.
