La Roche-Posay. Committed to dermatology. Committed to the environment.
La Roche-Posay is a dermatological brand with a clear mission: to promote and protect public health. To achieve this, it develops products offering maximum sun protection efficacy, suitable even for the most sensitive and vulnerable skin. But La Roche-Posay has a second vital overarching mission: environmental responsibility. The brand takes environmental impact into account at every stage of development, meticulously screening each ingredient’s potential effects. Over and above ecotoxicology testing, La Roche-Posay works towards ambitious long-term environmental and social objectives as part of the Sharing Beauty With All (SBWA) program.
Formulating safe sun protection.
Sun filters are highly complex ingredients and not all sun protection is created equal. La Roche-Posay is dedicated to offering the most efficient broad-spectrum protection, for the most sensitive skin, from babies to seniors. Its laboratories construct photostable formulas with the highest SPF and UVA-PF (measures of UVB and UVA protection) values using a carefully calibrated blend of filters to provide broad spectrum UVB, UVA and long-UVA protection.
Without ever compromising on environmental impact.
As a member of the SBWA program, La Roche-Posay ensures that 100% of its formulas’ raw materials are meticulously tested in terms of environmental impact, across 4 major criteria:
- Impact on aquatic life
- Use of green chemistry for their manufacture
What standards does La Roche-Posay stipulate for its suncare products?
La Roche-Posay sets itself a formulation challenge with each and every new product developed: maximizing efficacy, tolerance and cosmetic qualities, while minimizing effects on the environment. The brand works with a dedicated ecotoxicology laboratory to assess environmental impact. It allows the development of innovative methods for the evaluation of our ingredients and the scoring of our formulas impact on marine ecosystems.
What about your filters Mexoryl SX and XL, are they environmentally safe?
The environmental impact of both of these filters has been exhaustively tested above any regulatory requirements. Ecotoxicology experiments have demonstrated that even extreme concentrations of these two filters in sea water have no bleaching effect on coral.
Protecting skin, respecting the environment
Drawing from in-depth research into each and every raw material and its environmental profile, La Roche-Posay creates smart ingredient formulas which unite clinically proven efficacy with the least possible environmental impact. They offer an on-skin feel that ensures the whole family will want to apply and reapply sunscreen. The Anthelios line is recommended by dermatologists all over the world because it protects even the most vulnerable skin with safe formulas that prove fun in the sun goes hand in hand with optimal protection.
